Thesis Project Proposal

This semester I want to continue with sculpture.  I want to go deeper with the form and texture of my pieces.  I’m continuing with the human body, but in a different way.  I will be researching what different diseases like bacteria, HIV, cancer, hepatitis c, even what the common cold looks like.  The interesting thing about it will be that you will see them blown up as I place them on the insides of the body.   Usually you can’t see certain diseases, unless you look through a microscope, but by enlarging them you will.  I will be researching through anatomy books, artist Gunther von Hagens, the creator of Body World, and other books on disease.  The reason I am interested in this field is that we don’t really know what we are doing to our body when we do certain things to it.  Maybe by seeing the work that I create people will be more aware at what is happening when a certain disease comes through your body,  and at the same time be able to enjoy the art work that I create.
